Spiritleaf Gander, Newfoundland Store Grand Opening

A meeting place for those who value life-changing experiences!

In the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, in the town of Gander, you can find a Spiritleaf location opening soon. The Town’s name was partially inspired by the abundant wild geese and has a population of approximately 12 thousand residents. Due to its location to the Atlantic Ocean, the area experiences warm and rainy summers with cold and very snowy winters. Because of this community’s deep history with avionics the Town’s streets are named for famous aviators. Its local airport was designated as an alternate landing site for NASA’s Space Shuttle program. But the real connection is when this small-town airport took in nearly 6,700 people, almost doubling its entire population, when the September 11, 2001, terror attacks in NYC and Washington forced 38 planes to land here.  Gander and its surrounding communities welcomed the passengers and crew from nearly 100 countries with open arms.  This then inspired the Tony Award winning Broadway musical ‘Come From Away’.

This small town boosts a culture within itself. The Joseph R Smallwood Arts & Culture Centre has a theatre, swimming pool and art exhibition area for locals and visitors to enjoy. With spectacular scenery, several public parks, many walking and ski trails lead to seacoasts, beaches, icebergs, and whales. A short drive away you can find more natural beauty at the Terra Nova National Park, where you can explore more of the seashore and surrounding hillside. With a 4.5km of boardwalk through wetlands and a forest, Cobb’s Pond Rotary Park is considered to be the town’s best attraction.
